In July of 2015 we set out on a grand vacation through the southwest. We traveled for 21 days and over 6,000 miles, visiting 5 states and 9 National Parks. We explored new places and met up with old friends. Overall, it was an amazing journey and everyone learned so much. I highly recommend the Foder's guide to National Parks of the West, we used it when planning our trip and it was a great resource. You can see all my posts about the trip by clicking here.
Day 21 - Homeward Bound
We said goodbye to our friends (and the chickens). After 21 days on the road, it was time to head home. Little did we know that a delay getting out of Phoenix would make us miss our connection in Denver. We ended up spending the night at a Marriott (hello, room service) and having to be back at the airport at 6am to try again. It was a long 2 days, to say the least. The best part of the entire thing is when we were sent through Chicago with a ridiculously long layover and our friends were able to come and pick us up for lunch. Thankfully, this was the biggest travel snafu we had during the whole trip, and we still made it home safe and sound, just a day later than planned.
Ready to go! They have no idea we're going to get stuck and have to say in those clothes for the next day and a half.
Waiting for the shuttle from the hotel at 5am.
The K-Crew saves us from a 4 hour layover in Chicago!
