First Day of School

So the first day of school came and went and my baby headed off to Kindergarten. So far it has been a great year for both of them. We're so grateful for such a wonderful school, right around the corner from our home.

January 2014...

My resolution for 2014 is to be IN more family pictures.  So I decided to make sure to at least get 1 picture of the 4 of us each month.  This is our January picture from the Running of the Seahorses.

The Running of the Seahorses...

Last month Cole's school had their annual Running of the Seahorses event.  It's a run on the beach and it's their biggest fundraiser of the year.  I love it because it's a fun, family friendly event that doesn't require me to sell crap to people.  Mimi & Papa as well as Aunt Ali and Will came out to show their support.  The kids all did awesome and Kiley even took 2nd place in the pre-k age category.  She was so very excited when they called her name.

Kiley's Christmas Party...

I just have a few pictures from Kiley's party at school because most of the other ones have her little friends in them.  They had a book exchange, an adorable program, and of course snacks.

First Grade...

Cole started First Grade today.  He was so excited to go in and meet some new friends.  I can't wait to pick him up and see how it went!  You can see pictures from the first day of Kindergarten here.

Laptop Lunchboxes...

Since this was the first year Cole had to take his lunch to school we invested in the Laptop Lunchbox system for him.  I have to say that after using it for a full year I totally love it.  Here are a few of his lunches that I had on my phone and you can see a few more of them here, where I reviewed the product earlier in the year.

Where Did Kindergarten Go?

Tomorrow is the last day of kindergarten.  Not really sure how that happened, but it seems like the year just started.  Here are the pictures I took on the first day of school.

Little Reader...

My most favorite picture from the character parade is this one.  While the kids were waiting for the next set of classes to begin their route Cole opened his book and started reading to his friends.

Pie Time...

During the reading celebration last week Cole was honored as the top reader from Kindergarten.  His reward was a Books A Million gift card and the chance to throw a pie in his principal's face.  She was a great sport about it!

Top Reader...

I'm so proud of Cole.  He was the top reader in all of kindergarten this year!

Last Day of School...

Kiley's last day of school was 2 weeks ago.  I was trying to get a picture of her with her teacher, Mrs. Henderson, and her best friend Amelia insisted on joining them.  Just fine by me since these two were so close this year.  You can see Cole's last day of school from the 2 year old class here.  

Ladybug Girl...

Cole's totally awesome teacher invited Kiley to join the character parade since she knew we'd be up there for it anyways.  I decided to just let her wear her ladybug top and go as Ladybug Girl.

Kindergarten Rocks...

To say that the past few weeks have been busy would be the understatement of the year.  Kiley finished school last week so we had all of her end of the year festivities and since then she and I have been up at Cole's school almost every day.

But today was the best day of kindergarten (as far as I'm concerned).  Today the entire school dressed up as their favorite book character and the grade levels took turns parading through the halls.

When we first found out about the character parade Cole immediately asked if I could order him a new elephant costume, because the one he has from Halloween 2010 is too small.  How could I say no?  He went as Gerald the Elephant from his favorite series of books: Elephant and Piggie by Mo Willems.

Flashback Friday...

Here's a flashback for you guys... Cole (in 2008) and Kiley (in 2012) on their official first day of school in the 2 year old class.  Cole looks like a baby in these pictures, granted he was 9 months younger than Kiley when he started.

Kindergarten Rockstar...

While Kiley is loving every minute of preschool, Cole is living it up at Kindergarten.  He has tons of new friends and loves school.  We got to attend the first nine weeks awards ceremony where he received a bunch of awards for his hard work.  

First Day of School {part 2}...

Kiley's First Day of School...

Way back in September Kiley started in the 2 year old class.  She only goes 2 mornings a week for 2 hours, but it's just enough time for her to play and sing and snack with her friends.  She loves it and never bats and eyelash when I leave her (far different scene than we had with Cole).  

Awesome...

When I asked Cole how he liked Kindergarten on Monday afternoon he told me "It was awesome mom.  Not just cool, awesome."  Here are a few more from Monday morning.
