Wildlife...

The other night I heard Jonathan yelling from downstairs to get the kids up and come down right away.  I never in a million years could have imagined it was because a turtle was laying eggs in our front yard. She worked on her nest for well over an hour and when she was done you could barely tell that the pine straw had been disturbed.  We've marked the nest so that no one steps on it and now we just have to wait 80-150 days for the eggs to hatch.

The Playroom...

I've had a couple of request to share pictures from our playroom. We are using the downstairs bedroom as a playroom so that the kids have a place to hangout and Kiley doesn't kill herself going up and down the stairs. I put 2 huge bulletin boards up for their artwork and lots and lots of storage for toys. My favorite part is the scrabble letter design on the wall above the art table.

Coley, Coley Quite Contrary How Does Your Garden Grow?

My mom was in town the week that we closed on the house and right before we moved. One afternoon we headed over with some seedlings and seeds so that Cole could plant his vegetable garden. We have snap peas, kale, cauliflower, broccoli, beets and cabbage. As you can see, Kiley has already perfected using the rain barrels we installed along the back gutters.

Bad Blogger...

I've been a very bad blogger lately, but I have a very good reason why. We finally moved into our new home a few weeks ago and we've been busy settling in and making it home sweet home. Here's a sneak peek at the secret reading nook that I made for the kids. It's housed in the closet that is under our stairs. The kids love it and I love that they have a special place to curl up with their favorite books.

Cole's Big Boy Room...

I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures of Cole's big boy room. We moved him out of the nursery a few months ago and he made a fantastic transition to his new room and his new bed. I still need to take a few more pictures of his bed and closet, but you get the idea.

Pimp My Sandbox...

Over the New Years holiday weekend we took on a little home project, building a big freakin sandbox. The total size is 8' x 8' although, the part with sand is only 6' x 8'. Cole loves playing in it. Some days I have to all but drag him inside when it's time to go in. It wasn't terribly hard or expensive to do and was completely worth it.

What's Going On In There...

I told Cole not to be poking around in there because there might be an animal or snake living under the house. Now he's determined to find the animal or snake.

Silly Rabbit, Books are for Kids...

Since discovering how to climb up onto his stair step shelves, Cole has taken to sitting on the lower bench and demanding that I pull out his bucket of books. What's funny about this situation is that this is EXACTLY what I intended this bench to be used for. I just thought he would be 3 or 4 before he figured it out. And I apologize for the poor quality of the photo, it was taken with the web cam on my computer. I can't exactly run for the good camera when he's up there.

Old Office/New Playroom...

The 2nd part of our renovation project was to convert the old office that Jonathan & I shared into a playroom for Cole and keep the existing office/scrapbook room for me. It has turned out to be a fantastic use of the space because Cole can play and I can do a little work all while allowing me to keep an eye on the climbing monkey child. The last thing I need to post is pictures of the new detached 2 car garage, but I don't have any handy so it may be a while.

New Office...

So I've had several requests to post pictures of the completed office/garage renovation. This room now serves as Jonathan's office as well as headquarters for Yellow Fence.
